Mugs are an actient type of artwork, dating back to 1000 A.D.. Mugs are a type of cup that usually but are not restricted to holding hot beverages. They have a handles and hold more than a cup. They are made of ceramic materials such as earthenweare, bone china porcelain, or stonewear. They can also be made of strengthened glass, plastic, steel and other types of metals. Most mugs are dectorated in different colorful designs depeding on the artist.
These two pictures are of the mug I made myself. I used the coil method and then smoothed out the coils on the outside but left the coils visable on inside. I made the handle by taking three smaller coils and braiding them and then connected it to the rest of the mug. The glaze that i used was a low fire glaze that I made myself. The manganese that i used in the glaze mixture had the posibility of producing a purple or brown color. i was hoping for it to turn out a glossy purple but it ended coming out a glossy light brown. Although it is not the color i wanted i am very pleased with it overall.
